Jennie Toby

Jennie paints primarily in the abstract expressionist style. Using gestural brushstrokes, bold colors and fluid oil paints she creates artwork that is both spontaneous yet cohesive. Channeling the subconscious, her paintings capture hazy memories, impulses, and deep emotions.

For nearly two decades living in New York City Jennie was immersed in the art world. as a self taught artist she considers this a important beginning to her arts education. Additionally, Jennie holds a BA in international relations from Florida State University an MS in Education from Fordham University and an MA in Psychology from New York university.

Today she resides in Canada’s wine country where profound natural beauty blooms alongside the decline of a manufacturing region. This paradox strongly influences her. “It mirrors that same push and pull that reveals itself repeatedly in our lives and in my work- renewal and destruction.”
