Heather Grimmer

Heather VanHoose Grimmer, a polymath, is a local photographer, artist and small business owner in Niagara County, NY. She studied Architecture and Film Photography at Williamsville East High School from 1995 - 1999 and went to Syracuse University School of Architecture in 2001, where she studied Architecture, Psychology & Sociology with a specialized focus on the relationship between how built environments affect human behavior, and how human behavior helps shape built environments. Heather has worked in the field of Architecture and Design since 1999 starting out with Cannon Design, where she was given the opportunity to, and was the youngest employee to, have run large scale Architectural projects from conceptualization to completion in the firm. While still remaining in the field of Architecture, Heather went on to found a Graphic Design, Web Design, Photography, and Photographics Firm in 2004 HGDS | HG Design Studios, and she has been a contributing photojournalist to the Buffalo News, Niagara Gazette, Lockport Union-Sun & Journal, Medina Journal Register, Tonawanda News, and East Niagara Post. In addition to her Architectural Design, Graphic Design, and Photography background, Heather pursued further experience in Business Management becoming a General Manager of Mighty Taco from 2006-2008, and then in 2010 becoming the Chief Operating Officer of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation in Buffalo, NY. Heather has continued her Executive knowledge and experience sitting on numerous large scale For-Profit and Non-Profit Boards as President, and Vice-President positions. In 2011 Heather joined Market Street Art Center and moved into Studio 225. In 2015 Heather was granted the opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream she had had since she was a child - to run an Arts & Cultural Center with Galleries and classes - which, she still does today at ART247 / Buffalo Niagara Arts. Heather rarely enters her own work in the shows she creates at the Arts & Cultural Center, preferring to recognize, highlight, and promote the talented works of all the other artists that are a part of the ART247 / Buffalo Niagara Arts, Arts & Cultural Community.

In Heather's spare time, Heather's hobbies include being a Volunteer Firefighter, EMT, and Law Enforcement Officer, as well as a mom to two amazing teenagers.
