Subconscious Drips

Subconscious Drips, NON-CUBIST / ALL OTHER ABSTRACT STYLE | Paintings, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Drawings & Etc.
Subconscious Drips
My current body of work, titled "Subconscious Drips", features large abstract paintings of swirling fields of color. Although I describe my style as "graffiti inspired", it is only graffiti inspired, and is not actually graffiti art itself. The struggle to belong to a community isn’t just a part of the subject matter, but is also a driving force of the creation of the art. As an artist who battles with traditional ideas of identity, blackness, and femininity; an overall sense of fluidity and uneasiness are very visible in my pieces. Through this evolving process of creation, I hope to better understand myself and my place within my social community.
