Beauty In Decay Rust Art
I have always been fascinated by the natural beauty created by rusted metal. The shape, scrollwork, texture and colors are gorgeous to me. I traipse around an old salvage yard and pull out rusted metal scraps and manipulate and unbend them to turn them into works of art. I love the idea of creating art out of old, decaying parts of things that were once a functioning part of life. The idea of the passage of time, cycles and the elements contributing to these pieces of art created by forgotten items appeals to me.

Bio
I have been interested in art since I was a small child. I earned an Associates Degree in Commercial Art from Bryant &Stratton in 1989. In the last 20 years I have done freelance artwork which included portraits in charcoal and watercolor and works of art in acrylic on canvas and mixed media. I have had my artwork featured in The Buffalo Parade of Homes 2000 as well as participated in art shows at Tonawanda Castle in 2005. I had a solo exhibition of my work in 2019 at The Lock Keeper Coffee House and I organized a drive by art parade in May of 2020 where 28 of my paintings were set up outside for people to drive by and view. I have several (11) of my works currently on display at the Linde Engineering campus in Tonawanda, NY. I have taught various art classes in acrylic painting as well as the use of alcohol inks to create greeting cards since 2016. I recently opened VibeRant Art Studio in the Bewley Building in Lockport where I work on my art and teach paint classes.
